The Department applies science of economic principals in agriculture including two main areas as Agricultural Management and Agricultural Policy and Extension.
In the context of Agricultural Management; productive, profitable and rational management principals are shown considering production relations and theory.
In Agricultural Policy and Extension; the agricultural policy which directly or indirectly affects producers and consumers, rural development and sociology, the education process for the adaptation of innovations are considered. In this context, comprehensive education are given to the students.
Department has close connections with other departments of the Faculty as it researches the economic concept of the developments in other branches.
The Department integrate science, practice and innovation to serve the immediate needs of animal industries and provide new knowledge, information and skill to comply the current and forthcoming challenges.
The primary objectives of the program are to educate students in animal breeding and genetics, animal nutrition, reproduction, biostatistics, animal disease and health protection, hygiene, physiology, animal fibers (mohair, wool, hair), and the areas of animal business and industry.
Our graduates are aware of sustainable animal production practices that ensure animal reproduction technolohgies, animal diseases, animal health, hygiene, animal welfare, animal behaviour, management of natural resources and animal waste.
The Department aims to educate students, create and disseminate theoretical and practical continuously updated knowledge and skills, and develop applications of technology through study of diary and related biological and engineering systems in order to ensure the production of safe milk and dairy products at both national and international standards required by rapidly evolving dairy industry.
The undergraduate levels of education is arranged to provide students the technical facilities in topics as processing of milk into dairy products and dairy by- products, the establishment and the organization of dairy industries with quality control activities, the utilization of dairy wastes, including the required analytical and microbiological analysis in milk and diary products and interpret the results with the novel techniques and tools in the field of dairy technology.
The department is involved in machine design and its management with basic and applied research and consultancy.
Main areas are energy in agriculture, rural electrification, computer applications in agriculture, tractors and other power machines used in agriculture, as well as tillage equipment, sowing, planting, fertilizing machines, irrigation pumps, harvesting and cleaning machines, plant protection and pest control equipment, mechanization in livestock husbandry, greenhouse, cooling and drying techniques in agriculture, heating and cooling techniques in farm structures, environmental controllers for poultry, management, planning and product research related to implementing and applying all agricultural technologies.
The department covers courses and research projects related to sustainable use and development of agricultural lands and water sources, irrigation of agricultural crops, land drainage and reclamation, land consolidation and agricultural construction such as barnyards, poultry house, storage buildings for agricultural products, green house construction and maintenance and rural settlement planning. It also participates professioanl and farmer training programs, saminars and field demonstrations to give education in the upper limit as to create proffesionals who can contribute the field.
Graduates from this department are employed with state agencies such as State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) Ministry of Agriculture. Non-govermental agencies such as irrigation groups, irrigation cooperatives and irrigation engineering equipment retail and consulting firms aldo seek syudents with this background. Our graduates also have license to set up and operate private engineering offices offering services on their expertise.
The Department’s aim is to educate students to generate, integrate and apply knowledge about crop plants that are widely grown in our country for food, feed and the general benefit of humankind. Through the integration of teaching, research and extension/outreach efforts with continuously update knowledge and skills, we find and disseminate answers to problems and discover opportunities concerning efficiency and sustainability of production, improvements in yield and quality, and methods for safe and environmentally-sound practices.
Undergraduates who specialize in cultivation of field crops such as cereals, ediblelegumes, oil crops, fiber crops, fodder crops etc., in plant breeding, in seed science and in range management learn the application of agronomy and plant breeding to improve production and quality of cultivated plants in preparation for successful careers in research, industry, agricultural extension, government, and international programs.
The Department is reinforced with a wide array of highly qualified and experienced academic staff, modern infrastructure facilities and bilateral cooperation with many reputed national and international institutes.
Education is specialized under different fields such as aquaculture, fisheries resources, marine and freshwater fisheries, aquatic plants, biotechnology and genetics, marine biology, engineering systems, science and technology for exploitation of fisheries resources and water quality.
The Department has identified main focus areas for further research and development in order to address the issues of aquaculture sector of freshwater and marine ecosystems.
Graduates are known to be employed in aquaculture industry, which demands educated, talented and diverse workforce who will be employed not only in the retail and wholesale seafood trade, but also as aquaculture advisors, equipment engineers, fish farmers, academic staff and scientist for commercial and government operations.
The Department is composed of four sections including fruit, grapevine, vegetable and ornamental plants growing and breeding.
The aim of the program is to give theoretical education on growing techniques, propogation, breeding, physiology, biotechnology, seed science and technology, protected cultivation systems and post harvest physiology of horticultural plants.
The program offer students a broad understanding of all aspects of horticultural production for the improvement of plant growth, yield, quality, nutritional properties and resistance traits. In this concept basic knowledge on biology, morphology and physiology of horticultural plants, ecological requirements are provided. These are further supported with growing and breeding techniques involving classical and modern approaches.
The department deals with spatial design, planning and management examining the nature, planning and design concept in a systematic structure by bringing together art, science, engineering and technology.
Graduates incorporate the knowledge of physical planning, design, ecology and art into issues and problem of natural and cultural landscapes; analyze the landscape architectural issues/problems in the fields of spatial planning, design, reclamation and site engineering, and develop sustainable solutions; describe social, economic and environmental conditions; obtain, analyze and design the size the relevant variables towards a defined destination.
Employment in organisations and private sector as well as public sector related to work area such as environmental planning and design, enviromental impact managment, landscape managment (planing maintenance and restoration), marketing and cultivation of ornamental plants.
The mission of the Department is to carry out research in the direction of production and dissamination of information and techniques for the solution of problems of plant protection in national and international fields, and to train the students and related personnel who will be able to contribute to the solution of these problems.
The Department has two branches: Phytopathology section consists of Bacteriology, Herbology, Virology, Mycology, Molecular Plant Pathology branches and Entomology section consists of Economic Entomology, Acarology, Nematology, Molecular Entomology branches.
The Department consists of two main departmental subdivision as Soil Science and Plant Nutrition. The Department has developed an out standing science program focused on Soil Phsics, Soil Chemistry, Soil Biology, Soil Erosion and Conservation, Soil Survey, Mapping and Plant Nutrition.
The departments aim is to expand, integrate, and extend the knowledge of soil plant ecosystems in the production of plant and the sustainability of enviromental quality
